We recently got the opportunity to check out the Redan Fun to Learn magazines here at MoneySavingParent headquarters. Redan Fun to Learn is a fun magazine for children ages preschool to approximately 12 years depending on the magazine purchased. They take your child’s favorite characters and incorporate them into a magazine with fun learning activities for your children to do and enjoy. My youngest is 9 and was especially excited to receive the Scooby Doo, Sparkle World and Disney Princess magazines. Each magazine comes with something different inside of it. There are stories to read (your child alone or you together), mazes, stickers, coloring pages, and each magazine comes with a poster featuring that stories characters.
The magazine quality was exceptional. We packed them in a backpack for playtime travel and they actually survived the trip. If you have children you KNOW what can happen to a backpack. The paper is slick magazine paper, but great quality as it doesn’t tear easy.
I think one of the best things about this magazine, other than it's learning fun with cool stuff for the girls to do, is that I can switch to a different magazine title if the girls get bored. I've seen that happen so that makes for a nice switch up from seeing the same magazine over and over again each month.
I think that the age of 12, is pushing it just a little bit as far as age appropriate. While my 10 year old enjoyed one or two activities she quickly moved on to her American Girl and Barbie magazines. But she's also not big on puzzles or mazes but prefers to do more "crafty" type activities while my younger daughter loves puzzles and mazes and quickly completes them.
We also had the opportunity to check out the preschool magazines, which while far to young for my children were very cute with fun activities for the littles, but it will definitely mean an adult helping them out with them. I wish I had known about this activity book while my girls were younger because even then they really loved getting mail which had their name on it.
Colorful images, stories to read, their favorite characters, fun activities and the ability to change things up when they get bored. Sounds like a pretty good gift idea to me.
Not sure which magazine a child you are buying for will like? Purchase the gift card instead and then help them go online to make their selection. There's everything to choose from like Thomas the Train for the little ones to Marvel Avengers, Spiderman and Disney's Frozen for the holders.
